From September 24 to 25, a three-member delegation from the University of Sheffield (UK), comprising Professor Karim Hadjri, Chair Professor, Mrs. Marina Hadjri and Dr. Yali Zhang, visited Shandong Jianzhu University.

During the visit, Yu Dehu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University, had cordial talks with Professor Hadjri and his delegation, in which the two sides exchanged views on deepening educational cooperation and academic exchanges and expressed their willingness to further cooperation in the future.

Afterwards, the delegation went to the School of Architecture and Urban Planning for a symposium, where the principal leading officials of the School warmly received Professor Hadjri and his delegation in the School’s meeting room. At the symposium, the two sides held in-depth exchanges among backbone faculty members on such frontier research areas as inclusive built environments, age-friendly environments, housing and health, built environments and cognitive health, post-occupancy evaluation, and sustainable human settlements. As the former Head of the School of Architecture at the University of Sheffield, Professor Karim Hadjri also holds a number of important academic positions, including member of the ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) Peer Review College, reviewer for the EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, and member of the validation board of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). With his rich academic experience and international perspective, he brought profound and cutting-edge academic insights to the discussions.

This visit and exchange played a positive role in promoting the University’s international exchanges and research capacity. Professor Hadjri was very favorably impressed by the School of Architecture and Urban Planning and is full of confidence in future cooperation between the two sides. Following the exchange, Professor Hadjri and his delegation visited the School’s faculty achievements exhibition hall and teaching achievements exhibition hall.
